    • After becoming a teacher leader and attaining certification in educational leadership, the first step to becoming an assistant principal with Pinellas County Schools is to do PCS Targeted Selection which includes a written and oral assessment based on the Florida Principal Leadership Standards.  View the Florida Principal Leadership Standards.
    • PCS Targeted Selection occurs twice a year:  in the fall and in the spring.  The requirements are (see flyer in Chalk Talk for application/forms):
      1. Florida Teaching Certificate with Educational Leadership (Completion of Educational Leadership program and passed the FELE exam).

    • Pinellas County Schools supports teacher leaders through the targeted selection process by offering a course called Targeted Selection Overview.  This course has two sessions that cover self-assessment, STAR process, mock interviews, and the Florida Educational Leadership Standards.
    • Once a candidate has successfully passed both the written and oral targeted selection interviews, he/she is placed in the assistant principal pool.  He/she is then eligible to apply for administrative positions.
