Consider what’s next.   There are decisions to be made, and many options available.  Discuss these options with your family, and talk about what will be best for you. Utilize the College and Career Counselor who has resources available to help you explore your options!

    ACT

    • Can be used for college admission, obtaining scholarships, and/or FCAT concordant

    ASVAB

    • Armed services entrance exam

    • Sign up in your Counselor’s office

    FSA

    • Offered during semester 2 of each school year

    PERT (Postsecondary Education Readiness Test)

    • Computer based test
    • 3 subtests – Reading, Writing, and Math

    PSAT

    • Practice for SAT
    • Free online access to SAT study material and My College Quickstart. Receive actual test book and score report.
    • Gain knowledge of AP potential.
    • Entrance into National Merit Program, National Achievement Scholarship (African American students), and National Hispanic Recognition Program with proper scores when taken during Junior year.

    SAT

    • Can be used for college admission, obtaining scholarships, and/or FCAT concordant

     

    Post-Secondary Planning

    • Attend college fairs and visit college campuses
      • All students get a total of 4 excused days to use during their Junior (1) and Senior (3) year to visit schools. Visits must be pre-approved prior to going.
    • Start talking to Military recruiters during Junior year.
    • Take ASVAB if interested in the Armed Forces starting Junior year.
    • Take ACT and SAT at least once during the Spring semester of Junior year. Retake again during senior year as needed for college admissions, scholarships, and/or FCAT concordant scores.
    • Look into taking Honors, AP, or Dual Enrollment classes to increase the strength of your transcript.
    • Get involved by joining a club, volunteering, and/or trying out for a sport to enhance your resume.
    • STAY ON TOP OF GRADES!
      • The GPA coming out of your Junior year is often the one most colleges/universities will use in the admission process. Make it count!
