Performing Arts Curriculum - Secondary

  • Pinellas County Performing Arts offers a rich variety of standards-based curriculum which is aligned with Florida’s Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS).   This curriculum drives courses which provide multiple opportunities for students to be successful in the performing arts and to fully appreciate the benefit of an aesthetic experience through performance and performing arts pedagogy.  Expert curriculum writers have used the overarching NGSS Standards to identify specific target goals for each content area.  Teachers use these standard-based “Key Learnings” to create sequences of planned experiences where students practice and achieve proficiency in the theory and skills necessary to be successful in their chosen performing arts content area.

In Pinellas Middle and High Schools, a wide variety of performing arts options are available to all students.  All performing arts teachers are state licensed and certified to teach the classes they are assigned.  Students benefit and thrive from the rich and varied instruction received from these skilled and highly-trained educators.

The following course lists are not exhaustive but include courses offered in our middle and high schools.  Sequential ability levels are offered for each course, and some schools offer additional courses not listed here.  The courses listed below might not be offered in every school so please confirm course offerings with the school of your choice.
