Battle of the Books/Boys Read

Skyview participates in our Pinellas County Reading Competitions including Battle of the Books and Boys Read!  Battle is a fun way for students to enjoy reading and to work on finding evidence in the text to defend their answers. Battle book selections are also known as the Florida State Sunshine Readers Association books.  These 15 books are selected each year by a panel of Library Media Specialists after thorough review with the intent of promoting excellent and diverse characters and genres of relatively current literature selections.  Our Battle is being sponsored with support from Achieva Credit Union and Gator Gal Specialties with shirts that our students earn to be part of a classroom team. 

The actual battle is done with Cranium Core, an exciting game designed to encourage our readers to delve into the text to support the answers to the “quiz bowl” type questions.  To find out more about participating in our Skyview Battle of the Books or to volunteer your time to help in the Media Center, please email our Library Media Technology Specialist, Mrs. Carver @ carverk@pcsb.org
