Q: When did McMullen Booth Elementary become an IB school?

A: We are not an IB school yet, we are a candidate school. We are working hard to become an authorized IB school.

Q: Does McMullen Booth teach the Florida BEST standards?

A: Yes! We teach Florida’s BEST standards through the framework of IB. The IB PYP is a framework for learning, it is not a curriculum.

Q: Is the IB Programme only for certain students?

A: No! All students who attend McMullen Booth are IB students.

Q: How is IB at McMullen Booth different from other school magnet programs?

A: The framework of IB’s PYP is inquiry-based and interdisciplinary. Teachers will teach the content conceptually, helping students to find connections between the subjects. The framework is grounded in authentic, student-centered learning that empowers students to be curious about their world and solve problems around them.

Q: If I am zoned for McMullen Booth, do I need to apply to be in the IB programme?

A: No. If you live in the zone for McMullen Booth, you are already part of the programme. Only students who live outside the zone and who live in north county need to apply.

Q: If I live in north county, but not in the McMullen Booth zone, how do I apply to go to your school?

A: Visit the district website for more information. https://www.pcsb.org/Page/10267 For questions about the application process, contact the Student Assignment Office by phone at 727.588.6210.

Q: When can we tour McMullen Booth to see the campus? How do I arrange a tour?

A: To schedule a tour, please contact our IB coordinator, Francine Neugebauer at neugebauerf@pcsb.org  or call 727-669-1800.
