Welcome to Bear Creek PE
-
- What is PE?
- PE stands for Physical Education.
- It’s a class where you learn about moving your body, being active, and staying healthy.
- Skills We Learn:
- Locomotor Skills: These are skills that help us move from one place to another. Examples include walking, running, and jumping.
- Non-Locomotor Skills: These are movements that happen while we stay in one spot. Think of stretching, bending, or balancing.
- Manipulative Skills: These involve using objects, like throwing a ball, catching, or kicking.
- What We Do in PE:
- We play educational games, dance, and learn skills.
- We learn how our body moves in different ways (like up, down, forward, backward).
- We practice skills like jumping, throwing, skipping, hopping, catching, and kicking.
- We incorporate STEM challenges and combine reading and math skills with movement.
- Why PE Matters:
- Learning these skills helps us in many ways:
- We become better at sports and games.
- Our brains work better when we’re active.
- We make friends and have fun.
- It keeps us interested in being active as we grow up.
- Fitness:
- Being fit means being healthy and strong.
- At Bear Creek, we learn lots of basic movements to stay fit.
