    Dunedin family,

I am incredibly excited to begin my new role in serving as the Principal at the “happiest school on earth.” As many of you know, I have acted as the Assistant Principal here since the 2014 school year. My career in Pinellas County began in 2002 and I have had the pleasure of working at several schools: Skycrest Elementary, Belleair Elementary, and Highland Lakes Elementary. I have a Master’s degree and an Ed. Specialists degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida where I focused on students who are learning English as a second language.

I believe the role of every person at Dunedin Elementary is to serve this community. As your leader, I will continue to work to ensure that our students are making progress toward their academic and career goals while building the habits of being good citizens of this community.

Tammy Killian, our  AP, and I commit that each of you have what you need to do your best job for our kids. We will act as servant leaders for our staff, students, and families.

Our focus will continue to be building EVERY student’s reading and math proficiency and fluency. We will be working hard to identify phonics gaps and strengthen number sense BEFORE the students leave the primary grades. We have seen how difficult it is to address these deficiencies as student progress into intermediate grades.

I look forward to leading our school to continued growth and greatness during the 2024-2025 school year.

    Tina Murphy
