About

Lynch Elementary was named after George M. Lynch, Pinellas County Schools Superintendent (1928-1935). He was also the founder of St. Petersburg College in 1927, which was created to help students during the economic downturn of the Great Depression as a way for local students to receive a post-secondary education without having to relocate or pay a high tuition. The original Lynch Elementary school was built in 1958. Renovations in 2011 kept elements of the original school to honor the school's past. Bricks from the original building were used in the new center courtyard and the original school letters were used in the second entrance to the school.
