My name is Kristy Bench, Assistant Principal at Fairmount Park Elementary. I bring over 17 years of experience in the field of education, having started my career as a substitute teacher while working towards my bachelor's degree. From there, I transitioned to a classroom teacher, where I spent 11 years teaching grades 3-5. I quickly gained a reputation for creating a dynamic and inclusive environment, fostering a love of learning and implementing innovative teaching strategies to which I landed the AVID Elementary District Director position with the Department of Advanced Studies. This role allowed me to work closely with teachers to improve instructional practices and student outcomes. I developed a deep understanding of curriculum development and effective teaching methods, further preparing me for leadership roles.
I hold a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of South Florida and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Saint Petersburg College. My academic background, combined with hands-on experience has equipped me with the skills necessary to support both teachers and students effectively.
As the Assistant Principal, I will focus on improving student outcomes through data-driven instruction and collaborative professional development. I will maintain an open-door policy and encourage stakeholders to share their ideas and concerns.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I believe that education extends beyond the classroom, and I am committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
