English as a Second Language (ESOL)

  • The focus of ESOL involve the above mentioned areas. First, the focus is on the student's ability to listen to a story and ask and answer questions to clarify understanding of content and experiences. Then the same story is used to deepen an understanding of language via word choices and context. Later, the students read the story or a slight variation and write responses to both low and high order questions. Finally, the students either write a retelling of the story in their own words or embellish the story and make it their own creatively.
