OGE Music Program

  • Students in grades K-5 at Orange Grove have music once a week for 45 minutes.  During their weekly lessons, your child will explore and strengthen their music skills, techniques, and processes.  Students develop vocabulary and music literacy to deepen their understanding of music and other content areas such as reading, writing, social studies and science.  As students sing, play, move and create together, they continue to build such important life skills as team work, acceptance, respect, and responsibility that will help them be successful in the 21st century.

Our school hosts 2 music concerts each year so that students can showcase their learning through a performance on stage.  The winter concert will take place in December with 1st grade singing, 3rd grade playing the recorder and 4th/5th grade chorus singing holiday selections.  The spring concert will take place in April or May with Mallet Madness, 2nd Grade Musical, and 4th/5th Grade Chorus performing.  Kindergarten will perform in the Patriotic Program in May as a separate event.  Parents and relatives are invited to school to see their musicians perform at each of these events.  We look forward to seeing you there!

    Thank you, Pinellas Taxpayers

Pinellas County Schools Referendum strengthens reading, music and art programs; provides up-to-date technology and textbooks; and helps recruit and retain quality teachers.  Pinellas County voters have overwhelmingly supported renewal of the half-mill tax since it was approved in 2004.  Our OGE music program has benefited from referendum dollars every year with the purchase of 10 classroom iPads, field trips in 5th grade to see the Florida Orchestra perform, music teacher technology training, PA sound equipment, new xylophones, other classroom instruments and sheet music.
