  • Volunteer Opportunities!

Cypress Woods Elementary offers many opportunities to volunteer!

    Join our monthly Volunteer Cafe!

Each month our volunteers get together to work on various classroom projects. Coffee, juice, and snacks are provided. It is a great time to meet other CWE volunteers while helping our teachers stay focused on education by completing their busy work. This program is occasionally adjusted to a curbside pick-up event as needed. Registered volunteers will receive invitations and updates via email.

Join our Lunch Pals Mentoring Program!

We are always searching for Mentors/Lunch Pals to meet with students that need additional support.  A Lunch Pals Mentor meets once a week during the student’s lunchtime.  They are another caring adult in their life to serve as a role model who will support and encourage them in school and in life.  For only 30 minutes a day, you can make a huge impact on a student.  A free district workshop is required in order to become a mentor. Once you have completed the training we can match you with a student.  The hope is that you will continue as the student’s lunch pal/mentor throughout their ongoing academics. To learn more about the program and sign up for the next training, visit PCSB Mentor Information and CWE's Lunch Pals page.

Interested in becoming a Level 2 Volunteer?

This is an optional additional level of background screening that is required when volunteering in a situation where you may be unsupervised with students such as field trip chaperones who are driving, overnight field trips, etc. View the locations and hours of our approved fingerprinting vendors, then follow up with our Family & Community Liaison at shipleyk@pcsb.org 7–10 days after fingerprinting to verify your status.

Returning Volunteers and Entering Volunteer Hours:

Returning volunteers must re-activate their status in the Focus Volunteer System at the beginning of each school year in order to volunteer in the classrooms, chaperone field trips and more. Also, every volunteer is asked to record ALL their volunteer hours in the Focus Volunteer System. EVERY hour counts whether you are in the classroom, helping at a special event, working on a project from home or participating in our PTA! These hours are reported to Tallahassee twice a year and show the level of community support at our school, allowing us to maintain 5 Star status!
