Visual Arts

  • Students in K-5 visit the art room once a week for 50 minutes for the entirety of the school year. Each class reflects on the “big ideas” of critical thinking and reflection skills, techniques and processes of organizational structure, historical and global connections, innovation, technology and the future per Pinellas county visual arts curriculum.

Each year students will explore drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and digital art (art room iPad lab).

Throughout the school year you can enjoy the work created by our very talented young artists at our school’s Artsonia website. You can view artwork and leave comments for our artists. Parents be sure to sign up for an account so you can preview the comments and then share them with your child.

Students will take their portfolios home at the end of the school year with all of their artwork. There are many visual art shows with opportunities for students artwork to be selected, thus the need to hold on to artwork until the end of the school year.

The art shows that we currently participate in are Word and Image at the Morean Arts Center, Creative Start at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center, 3+ Dimensional: K-12 Ceramic/Sculpture/Movie at Gibbs High School, March is Youth Art Month at the Clearwater Library, Mainsail in Vinoy Park, FAEA Virtual Exhibit, and the Annual Administration Building exhibit.
