Fees and Expenses

  • Pinellas Technical College tuition and fees are collected upon initial registration and subsequent fee periods. Cash, credit card (Visa and MasterCard), FL Prepaid ID Card*, money orders, personal checks, and Cashier's Checks are accepted.  Financial aid is available to those who qualify.

    Tuition

    Tuition for programs offered is established by the Pinellas County School Board.  Current tuition rates are as follows:

    • Career Technical Certificate - $2.92 per hour for residents and $11.71 per hour for nonresidents/foreign students
    • Adult General Education (with or without diploma or GED) - Includes ESOL, Adult Disabled, and GED. Does NOT include High School Credit, homeless populations, or individuals in state foster care programs. $45 per term for residents (not to exceed two terms/$90 per year) and $120 per term for nonresidents/foreign students (not to exceed three terms/$360 per year); some classes have lab fees.
    • Fee-Based Instruction - The fees for these classes will be based on the actual cost of each course and will be determined by the facility offering the course or CTAE administration for courses offered at all facilities.
    • Self-Sustaining - The fees for these classes will be based on the actual cost of each course and will be determined by the facility offering the course or CTAE administration for courses offered at all facilities.

    Fees

    In addition to tuition, Pinellas Technical College programs and courses are subject to the following fees:

    • Application/processing fee
    • ID card
    • Parking permit
    • Books, tools, and supplies
    • Laboratory fees
    • Equipment and facility usage fees
    • Graduation fees
    • Uniforms (as required by program)
    • Certification or licensure exam assessments (as required by program)

     

     Registration/Fee payments:
    • Fee periods are identified on the website calendar,
    • ALL students must come to the bookstore to pay fees EACH TERM - payment does not happen automatically.
    • Tuition, lab fees, and facility fees are due by the first day of class of each term.
    • If being funded by an outside agency, students must make sure the agency has all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.  Pinellas Technical College does not send this information to the agency.

     

    *  For FL Prepaid, please bring your card to each registration. Currently, only tuition fees are covered. Other fees such as lab, facility, ID Application, etc., should be paid out of pocket or through another type of financial aid.
     
     
    Chapter 2014-1, Laws of Florida, (House Bill 7015) amended section 1009.26, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and created the Congressman C.W. Bill Young Veteran Tuition Waiver Program.

     This program authorizes an out-of-state fee waiver for honorably discharged veterans of the United States (U.S.) Armed Forces, U.S. Reserve Forces or the National Guard who physically reside in Florida. A career center operated by a school district under s. 1001.44, F.S. or charter technical career center operated under s.

    1002.34, F.S., must waive out-of-state fees for an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed

    Forces, the U.S. Reserve Forces or the National Guard who physically resides in this state while enrolled in the institution. Each district is encouraged to place information about this waiver in a prominent location on its website.

    Chapter 2014-62, Laws of Florida, (House Bill 851) amended s. 1009.22 and 1009.26, F.S., and affects the tuition and fees policies for school district adult general education and career and technical education programs. Sections 2 and 5 of this act contain the following:

     Career centers operated by school districts and charter technical career centers must provide a tuition waiver for recipients of a Purple Heart or another combat decoration superior in precedence in accordance with the provisions in s. 1009.26(8), F.S.

     Effective July 1, 2014, for programs leading to a career certificate or an applied technology diploma, the standard tuition rate shall be raised $2.33 per contact hour for residents and nonresidents and the out-of-state fee shall be raised to $6.99 per contact hour.

    Career centers operated by school districts and charter technical career centers must provide for an out-of-state fee waiver for recent Florida high school grades who meet certain conditions, including those who are undocumented for federal immigration purposes.

    A single block rate tuition for all students enrolled in adult general education is required. The out-of-state fee for non-residents was removed from the statute.
