• In May of each year, students will take AP exams in an effort to earn college credit. AP exams are scored on a scale of 1-5; 3 is considered a qualified or passing score. All students taking an AP course are required to take the AP exam for the course(s) they are enrolled in. Pinellas County Schools covers exam costs for students taking AP courses. However, there are some instances when a student may be called to cover these costs:

    1. Dropping a course after exams have been ordered

Prior to the final drop date, teachers, counselors, students, parents, and the AP coordinator will have engaged in multiple conversations to determine if it is appropriate for a student to drop an AP course. Information about exams and the final drop date is communicated continuously within classrooms, during class seminars and student announcements. In addition, students wishing to drop an AP course must complete the Request to Drop an AP Course Form. For additional questions, please contact Ms. Robinson at robinsoncr@pcsb.org

    2. Failing to show up for an exam

The date for AP exams are communicated to students in their AP courses, on the BCHS website and through various student announcement platforms. Students who miss a scheduled AP exam will be charged a fee.
