    The Specialized Services/Deaf or Hard of Hearing Itinerant Teacher provides direct or consult services to students with a hearing loss that encompasses the three standards in School Board Policy:  highest student achievement, safe learning environment, and effective/efficient operations. 

    The Itinerant Teacher:

    • Is a team member for the development, scheduling, or conducting of appropriate Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) Gifted Educational Plans (EPs) or Progress Monitoring Plans (PMPs) including determining present levels of performance, annual goals, benchmarks or short-term objectives;

    • Collects student performance data for progress monitoring, reports progress toward IEP/EP, and maintains case manager records;

    • Plans and delivers resource instruction to Kindergarten through Age 22 students with a hearing loss that integrates classroom academics, amplification usage, and/or self-advocacy skills;

    • Supports Teachers in implementing appropriate IEP or EP accommodations, integrating learning strategies for the student with a hearing loss into his/her classroom instruction, and amplification use;

    • Provides approved supplemental resources to parents, students, and teachers relative to understanding hearing loss and related testing documents (i.e. audiograms).
