How Does AVID Work at OMS?

AVID is an elective class that provides support, strategies, and tutoring for students in the "academic middle". Students must meet certain criteria to qualify for the AVID program and apply to be considered. Selection is based on FCAT test levels, grades, attendance, behavior, and desire to succeed in school plus other determiners such as being the first in the family to attend college. We enroll students in at least one advanced level course to increase the rigor in their coursework and put them on the right path to high school and college readiness.
