Specialist

  • Our magnet areas focus areas are math, science, technology and Spanish, but there is so much more to the school! The focus concepts are integrated throughout the curriculum to provide a natural learning environment with a real world application. Specialists work closely with classroom teachers to support the magnet program.

    Some Features of Our Program:

    Art
    Art classes are given once a week with an eye toward Essential Learning Goals set by the District. At Bay Point, math and science concepts are artistically interwoven throughout the lesson. Students tap their imaginations to use a variety of media including paints, crayons, woodburning, mixed media and clay to create beautiful pieces of art.

    Library and Media Center
    The well equipped library has a wide variety of books for students to check out. The media specialist gives lessons in research techniques, sets up book fairs and offers story time for the younger grades. BPE students compete in the Battle of the Books.  Access online resources.

    Music
    Music classes are offered once a week. This versatile program includes two student performances at the winter and spring concerts. Students may participate in the 4th and 5th Grade Chorus, world drum, Orff and Guitar ensembles. BPE offers guitar lessons and a rock band after-school. .

    Physical Education
    Students go to P.E. three times a week to learn a number of skills they can use throughout their lives. These include an overview of team sports, exercise and dance. In addition, Kindergarten students have a separate play area for recess and outdoor activities.
