• College Visits

A great way to help your student identify his/her school of choice is to visit the campus. Since college tours often occur during the school week, juniors and seniors can receive up to four excused absences throughout high school. 1 visit can be used as an excused absence for the year prior to graduation and 3 visits can be used as an excused absence in the student’s final year of high school. These will not be counted against them for the exemption of exams once verification of visit is received.

For these absences to be excused, students must complete the following:

    1. One week prior to the visit, a parent-written note that includes the name of the institution, and the date of the planned college visit can be sent to Ms. Gallaty in the guidance office or emailed to GallatyN@pcsb.org
    2. During the visit, the student needs to request a letter of verification that states the student attended the college on the date absent. The letter should be on the school's letterhead.
    3. On the day of return, the student must submit the letter of verification to Ms. Gallaty.
    4. Once this is completed, the absence will be excused within 1 week of submitting the letter.
