5000 Role Models
The 5000 Role Model of Excellence is a program designed to boost the self-image, social skills, and academic performance of targeted males by motivating them to interact with respected and successful men whose real-life accomplishments can inspire young gentlemen to succeed. Students are recommended by their teachers, peers, counselors, and administrators. Students must have parental consent and meet all program requirements.
Camp Invention Club
Different clubs rotate throughout the year that include exploring the science behind flight in nature, discover how sensors can be used on land and underwater, unseen champions of the sports world, the life of insects with robots and the power of solar energy.
Battle of the Books
Students will read 13 Sunshine State Award titles through participation in the Pinellas County Schools Battle of the Books program. The Battle of the Books program is introduced to students in grades 3-5. Students are given several months to read the titles and this year the qualifying test will be given the week of March 20th, 2023 to determine teams. Questions are based on plots, settings and characters. The school battle will be early April and usually consists of 4 teams. School battles and subsequent regional battles determine which school teams will be represented at the district battle in April. In February, 4 boys will compete in Battle of the Books Boys Battle. In April, 4 students (boys and girls) will compete in the District Battle of the books.
Movie Making
This club is for any student interested in learning different movie and video programs. Students will be expected to write and create their own movies. One movie will be submitted to the district in February for Pinellas County Film Festival in the spring.
Math Club—Targeted for 4th and 5th graders who need additional support with newly taught skills.
