Hi Perkins, my name is Christopher Holloway, I am a Perkins Elementary alumni. I went to Perkins for 6 years, kindergarten through 5th grade, 2003-2008.
I am a percussionist at Bethune Cookman University; I graduated from Lakewood High School in 2016. At Perkins I was a part of The Perkins Beat and chorus with Mrs. Rook. After I left Perkins, I went on to John Hopkins middle school Center for Performing Arts and after that I attended Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School for just a year. I then transferred to Lakewood High school to be a part of marching band, jazz ensemble and concert band. I’m now working towards my B.A in Music Recording Technology and applied percussion at Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach Florida, and after I graduate with that I will be attending Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida for 2 years to work towards getting my master’s degree in Music Recording Technology.
Once I finish school my goal is to work with different producers and artists at the professional level. I am currently a drummer at several churches and also a snare drummer for Bethune Cookman’s Sudden Impact drumline, and I also make music using technology. In high school I’ve received several superior grade ratings at solo and ensemble playing solo’s on concert Snare drum, Timpani and Marimba. I was also the drummer for the Lakewood Jazz Band for 2 years where we received 2 superior grade ratings at county and state level.
Perkins was the school that inspired me to get involved in music, it helped figure out my talent at a very young age. I was active in every show that Mrs. Rook had put on and was a part of the first Perkins Beat group where it was all started.
Perkins was indeed the school for me! I Love Perkins!
