Social Studies Department

  • 6th Grade:
     
    The Ancient World- using the History Alive text book, which includes an online student subscription. Students will apply literacy skills as they learn about Early Humans and the Rise of Civilization. Social Studies standards will be met through summative assessments, hands-on activities, and group work.

     
    7th Grade
    Civics – Students receive hands on activities and learn document analysis of the U.S. Constitution throughout the year to foster a better understanding of our obligations and responsibilities as a United States citizen. Civics will also help students understand the importance of our role in the local, state, and federal stage for which laws are made and/or founded unconstitutional. This will give students an understanding of reasons for use of democracy in our society.
     
    8th Grade
     
    U.S. History – Students receive hands on activities and learn document analysis throughout the year to foster a better understanding of our countries past, present, and future. We will study the history of the United States from early Americans through the Industrial Revolution and be able to analyze, synthesize and evaluate the woven patterns in our society for which makes the strong democracy that we live in today.
