IB Curriculum

  • 9th and 10th Grades

    All courses in the 9th and 10th grade years are at the honors or AP level:

    • Language and Composition
    • French or Spanish
    • World History and United States History
    • Biology, Chemistry, Physics (optional)
    • Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus
    • Approaches to Learning
    • Electives

    IB Diploma Programme

    • 11th and 12th grade students study six subjects selected from the subject groups:
      • Language & Literature
      • Second Language: French or Spanish
      • Individuals & Societies: History, Psychology, Digital Society, Global Politics
      • Science: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Systems and Societies, Physics
      • Mathematics: Three levels of math
      • Electives courses 
    • The Core Requirements of the IB Diploma Program are:
      • Extended Essay: 4,000-word research essay
      • Theory of Knowledge: a course that explores the nature of knowledge across disciplines
      • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS): Encourages students to be involved in creative thinking, action that contributes to a healthy lifestyle and service that is a voluntary exchange with learning benefits for the student.

    *** Students in the IBDP Programme are not required to take the following courses that are otherwise required of traditional high school students: Economics, PE, HOPE, US Government, Personal Finance. IB students are also not required to take a fine arts class. If a student decides to leave the IB Programme, they will be required to take all of these courses.
