The Chihuly Collection at the Morean Art Center Field Trip

Ms. K's advanced art students went on a field trip to The Chihuly Collection at the Morean Art Center in St. Petersburg on Friday, January 27th. Students started by watching a video about the progression of Chihuly's glass blowing throughout his career so far, followed by a docent-led tour through the gallery and a live glass blowing demonstration by working artists. Some of the individual glass works they were able to see in person were up to 40 inches wide and filled with color, while some of the glass installations took over entire rooms and weighed around 2,000 pounds! Students had a lovely time learning about glass-blown art and said it was an experience they will never forget!
