Mission

 

The mission of the Dixie M. Hollins High School media center is to offer services to support the educational goals of the school, to encourage critical thinking,  to broaden students' horizons and to support the use of technology across the curriculum.

 

 

 

The media center is open from 6:45 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:55 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

 

The media center is located in the center of the campus, on the quad, across from the student cafeteria.

 

 

The Dixie Hollins' media center houses over 15,000 hardbound books and has over 1200 ebooks available through its Mackin Via app.  There is also a small collection of audio books available for check out.  These books include fiction, nonfiction, biography and reference.

 

One of the most popular genre of books is our manga collection.  Series as well as graphic novels are included in this collection.

 

In addition to the books at DHHS, students may request books be requested from other schools through a Interlibrary Loan (ILL)  that serves all of the district's public schools.

 

 

Any student enrolled at DHHS may check out up to 4 books at a time as long as that student does not have an overdue book nor an upaid late fee fine. Books may be checked out for 14 days.

 

Fines for late books are ten cents a day per book.  Fines may be paid in the media center.

 

If a student loses a book or turns it in damaged beyond repair, the student will be charged the full replacement cost of the book.

 

 

The media center is open to all students before school, after school, and during lunch. During class, students must bring a pass signed by the teacher for that period.

 

Although we are an "unquiet" library, students are reminded to be courteous to others and keep their voices at a conversational level and refrain from horseplay or other distracting behaviors.
