What is the Cambridge International  / AICE Program ?

    • The Cambridge Program at Hollins High School began in 2011 with 55 students in 9th grade. The program has grown rapidly to almost 300 students and it continues to expand each year. In addition to those students who are taking the full Cambridge course load and pursuing the prestigious AICE Diploma, an additional 200-300 students at Hollins High School are taking some of the Cambridge / AICE courses even if they have not been selected into the full program. To be considered an AICE Diploma seeking student, you must apply and accept the rigors of this college prep program. For more information, please visit Cambridge's website.

The Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) is an innovative and accelerated method of academic study offered solely through the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), a division of the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England -- an institution that consistently ranks as one of the top five academic universities in the world.  AICE provides a flexible, broad-based curriculum that is offered worldwide at schools and colleges in over 161 countries.  For over 170 years, the prestigious Cambridge International program has been setting worldwide curriculum standards through their examinations.

Why are AICE courses and the AICE Diploma important?

    • American universities have responded enthusiastically to the AICE curriculum and the type of students who graduate from this prestigious program.  The Florida Legislature has identified AICE as a graduation option and acceleration mechanism through which students can be awarded up to 45 hours of college credits at all public universities and colleges in Florida.  Students earning the AICE Diploma qualify for the maximum Florida Academic Scholars tuition scholarship (with the completion of the required number of community service hours) and are not required to meet the minimum college GPA and SAT/ACT testing scores.

Why should students enroll in AICE courses?

    • The Cambridge International/ AICE program of study at Hollins High School offers students one of the most demanding and rigorous college preparatory programs in the world.  After completing at least one course in each of four academic areas, students have the flexibility to choose a course of study that best meets their abilities and interests.  Students also have the option of taking AICE courses and their subsequent exams in order to earn college credits without applying for the AICE Diploma.  Regardless of the option chosen, enrollment in these rigorous courses will benefit HHS students in the college application process.
