Healthy Schools Program

  • The Healthy Schools Program has been utilized for several years in Pinellas County Schools.  The program includes an assessment that is used to measure wellness policy implementation and track progress toward wellness goals. Plus, the Healthy Schools Program provides districts with comprehensive progress reports that can be used internally to inform new health and wellness priorities and externally to demonstrate compliance with national, state and local standards.  This program is provided by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

By utilizing the school health assessment, school's can evaluate the overall wellness of the school, staff, and students and decide on an action plan for improving health and wellness every year!  To get more information of the health and wellness of a specific school, contact the school's healthy school team leader!

The Suncoast Cooks and Chefs Association of Pinellas and the Tampa Bay Culinary Association provided the chefs to work with the teens on the cooking show. The teens act as hosts and cooks showing how to prepare quick recipes for a healthy diet.

The teens prepared forty different recipes reflecting a health tip of the month. These segments will run about 4-5 minutes each. The segments will be broadcast on WPDS Channel 14 and other local television stations each month as they reflect the health tips for that month.
