Ladders to Literacy

  • Ladders to Literacy

At Pinellas County Schools, we believe in the power of literacy to transform lives.  Grade level reading by the end of third grade is an important predictor of school success and high school graduation.  Research shows that proficiency in reading by the end of third grade enables students to shift from learning to read to reading to learn and to master more complex subject matter in the years ahead.  That means the first few years in elementary school are critical to building a strong literacy foundation for future school success.

It will take a collaborative effort—families, schools, and communities—to assure each and every child’s success.  Ladders to Literacy is a kindergarten through third grade resource library full of tips and how-to’s, activities and projects, toolkits and opportunities.  Select a button below to get started and help every child in Pinellas County climb the ladder to literacy.
