• Community Volunteer Opportunities

Enterprise Village and Finance Park are always looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to assist fifth and eighth grade students in the exciting, fast-paced world of hands-on economics.  As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to help prepare our children to become responsible and productive citizens.  Working with the students in this environment is fun and exciting.  The Gus. A. Stavros Institute, home to Enterprise Village and Finance Park, is located at 12100 Starkey Road in Largo.

    Enterprise Village

Enterprise Village is the school system’s “mini-mall” – an economic education project for fifth-grade students. Volunteers guide students as they learn about the free enterprise system through a hands-on simulation in the Village.  Students become EV citizens for the day, selling products or services to create a profitable business, earning a salary, managing their bank account, and becoming consumers throughout the community. Training is required.

    Finance Park

Finance Park is the hands-on simulation for eighth-grade students which enables them to build foundations for making intelligent, lifelong personal and financial decisions. Volunteers will guide and answer questions as students spend the day developing their budgets and managing their finances, choosing their monthly expenses (housing, transportation, food, entertainment), and understanding the advantages and disadvantages of using credit. Training is required.
