Honor Guard

  • Honor Guard is a group of highly motivated individuals that maintain exceptionally high standards of appearance and conduct and show aptitude for ceremonial duty. The definition of Honor Guard stands as: “a ceremonial unit, usually military in nature and composed of volunteers who are carefully screened for their physical ability and dexterity.” 

    Honor Guard is split up into different categories and is not associated with Raiders, Drill or Exhibition Teams or Color Guard.  The Honor Guard duties are as follows:

    1.  *Water Guard; hands out waters to everyone while out on the field. Also carries the cooler to and from the ROTC room.

    2.  *Gate Guard; makes sure only the people that are allowed on the field are going through the gates.

    3.  *Flag Guard; a select few people chosen to raise the flag during the National Anthem at the beginning of the game.

    4.  Saber Guard; renders the arc to have football players run under at the beginning of the game and during halftime. Also can be used during special events such as homecoming and seniors’ night.

    Honor Guard practices 2 hours prior to a football game.  The primary role during a football game besides the duties above is to train saber commands to the new members,

     

    The requirements to be on Honor Guard are as follows:

    1.  2.0 weighted GPA or higher

    2.  Have insurance.

    3.  Have good behavior and a positive attitude
