Parent Update for the Week of 2/24/25
Good afternoon Osceola Middle School Families. This is your principal Derrik Craun your weekly updates.
Looking ahead to next week, I welcome all OMS Parents to our next SAC and PTSA meeting which takes place at 5:30 for SAC and 6:00 for PTSA in our media center. Friday we will have an activity day with our annual Student vs. Faculty volleyball and basketball games near the end of the school day. Tickets can be purchased by students who make a $3 donation to our honor society during all 3 lunches beginning Wednesday through Friday.
Please join us Tuesday, 2/25, 5 – 8pm at Moe’s Southwest Grill in Largo, for our OMS Spirit Night. 25% of sales are donated back to OMS. Be sure to bring the attached flyer to get credit for your purchase. Help support OMS!
I would like to congratulate the OMS Symphonic Orchestra for earning 4 straight Superior Ratings (PERFECT SCORE) at last week’s district MPA! This has not been accomplished by OMS in over a decade. Congratulations to Mr. McDuffie and to our 25 student musicians in the Symphonic Orchestra.
Applications for Pinellas County Schools Summer Camps will be open February 19 – March 9. Families can choose from more than 50 summer camp offerings, ranging from STEM to the arts to career exploration.
The district is expanding camp opportunities and providing options in June and July. This year, camps will have a cost of $75 per session and a rate of $25 per session for students eligible for free- or reduced-price meals. Some of the many options include robotics, journalism, performing arts, mural painting, Italian cooking, AI comics and cosmetology. During your summer planning, please note that there will be changes to Summer Bridge eligibility. Summer Bridge programs will focus on helping students address academic challenges and continue to address achievement gaps. Middle school Summer Bridge programs will concentrate on credit recovery. Stay tuned for more information. Summer Camp space is limited so please apply early when applications open.
Parents, when picking up your child early, it is important to remember that all parents, guardians, and permitted family members must have a valid ID to sign out your student due to updated school safety regulations. To ensure a quicker sign out process, please call your child’s grade level office ahead of picking them up so we can have them ready at time you arrive. When it is an afternoon pickup, it would be best to call before noon. Also remember that 3:45 is the latest you will want to pick up your child as we have limited parking in the front of the school, and we need the spaces available for parents who have accommodations.
Last, our PBIS focus of the week is to be Active Learners and our Fun Friday Tee theme is to support the Tampa Bay Rowdies and can wear a Rowdies or any soccer Shirt on Friday.
Thank you Chief parents for your support and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
