Parent Update for the Week of 5/5/25

Good afternoon Osceola Middle School Families. This is your principal Derrik Craun your weekly updates.

As next week is Staff Appreciation Week, I would like to take the time to thank all our Chief Staff for all their hard work, dedication, and support for the success of our students.  Thank you parents for your continued support in showing appreciation for our staff.

As we began our PM3 Reading assessments last week, we are off to a good start and will continue this week finishing up Reading for all our students and begin PM3 Math on Friday for 6th grade students.  In addition, we wrap up the week with our 8th grade Gradventure trip for those students who purchased tickets. Laptop collection continues with 6th grade laptops will be collected after their Math assessment on May 9th and 8th grade on May 22nd.  We will have laptop carts in various classrooms as needed and will be wrapping up online assignments.

PCS is excited to once again offer our All-Girls Construction Camp this summer at Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School, in partnership with iBuild, NAWIC, and Pinellas County Schools. This unique, hands-on camp provides an incredible opportunity for young women to explore careers in the skilled trades, build confidence through real-world projects, and engage with professional mentors in the construction industry.

Last, our PBIS focus of the week is to be Active Learners and our Fun Friday Tee theme is to wear OMS spirit wear if you have it to support Staff Appreciation Week.

Thank you Chief parents for your support and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    In case you missed it:

TDAP Reminder: 6th grade parents, we hope that you have contacted your child’s doctor’s office to schedule their Tdap immunization for entry into 7th grade.  If not, now is a good time to do so in order for your child to be ready for the first day of school.  Once you have the new immunization form you can send it to the front office, however, most physicians upload the forms for us to access.

Parents, please remember that we are not allowing parking on 94th Avenue in front of the school at dismissal as it is not safe to have students crossing in front of buses.  Remember, our front lot is rather small and only for students with accommodations.  Please do not park there to pick up your child as that takes away from those who really them.

Also, when picking up your child early, it is important to remember that all parents, guardians, and permitted family members must have a valid ID to sign out your student due to updated school safety regulations.  To ensure a quicker sign-out process, please call your child’s grade level office ahead of picking them up so we can have them ready at time you arrive.  When it is an afternoon pickup, it would be best to call before noon.  Also remember that 3:45pm is the latest you will want to pick up your child as we have limited parking in front of the school, and we need the spaces available for parents who have accommodations.
