Parent Update for the Week of 3/31/25
Good afternoon Osceola Middle School Families. This is your principal Derrik Craun your weekly updates.
This week, we have a busy week with students taking the BEST Writing assessment Tuesday morning. Parents, as this is where students write their essays they have been preparing for, it is very important that all students charge their laptops and get good rest on Monday night. Wednesday after school there is an OMS Fishing club meeting in the cafeteria and the next event taking place Saturday April 5th at ROC Park from 8:30-10:30am. All students and families are welcome.
As we just completed our first week of quarter 4, quarter 3 report cards will be sent home Thursday during 7th period and Friday will be our OMS Activity Day where students will receive quarter 3 awards and end the day with our last OMS Pep Rally for the year. Looking ahead, I have attached a flier for our OMS Spring Showcase that will take place April 11th from 5:30-7:30pm where we will have parent and guardian engagement sessions on various topics and for kids there will be video game competitions, a movie in the cafeteria, board game, and more. The whole family is invited, and dinner is provided!
In athletics, we have our first boys and girls flag football games this week with games on Monday at Seminole High and Wednesday at Largo High. All games start at 4:45 and tickets can be purchased on the GOFAN app. https://gofan.playonsports.com/digital-ticketing-guide
As a reminder all Pinellas County Schools students can ride PSTA buses for free with their school ID, providing transportation to school, activities, jobs, and recreation. This partnership ensures reliable travel and supports student success.
To maintain a safe environment, please remind students of the following:
- ID Proof: Students must show their ID or proof of enrollment when boarding for accurate ridership counts. For ID questions, email UPASS@psta.net.
- Behavior Expectations: Disruptive behavior, such as fighting, profanity, loud talking, or playing music without headphones, is not allowed.
Yearbooks are on sale ordered yearbooks will have student’s name engraved on a name plate on the front cover. You can purchase online using the following link: https://yearbookordercenter.com/job/355

TDAP Reminder: 6th grade parents, we hope that you have contacted your child’s doctor’s office to schedule their Tdap immunization for entry into 7th grade. If not, now is a good time to do so in order for your child to be ready for the first day of school. Once you have the new immunization form you can send it into the front office, however, most physicians upload the forms for us to access.
Parents, please remember that we are not allowing parking on 94th Avenue in front of the school at dismissal as it is not safe to have students crossing in front of buses. Remember, our front lot is rather small and only for students with accommodations. Please do not park there to pick up your child as that takes away from those who really them.
Also, when picking up your child early, it is important to remember that all parents, guardians, and permitted family members must have a valid ID to sign out your student due to updated school safety regulations. To ensure a quicker sign out process, please call your child’s grade level office ahead of picking them up so we can have them ready at time you arrive. When it is an afternoon pickup, it would be best to call before noon. Also remember that 3:45pm is the latest you will want to pick up your child as we have limited parking in the front of the school, and we need the spaces available for parents who have accommodations.
