Mr. Shepherd received his degree from Austin Peay State University with a major in Art and a minor in Psychology.  Mr. Shepherd moved to Florida in 1996 and joined the Osceola Middle School staff in 2003.  He is also a professional artist; he paints in all media and his favorite style is Impressionism.

Mr. Shepherd was nominated Teacher of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2010 as a Finalist.

Mr. Shepherd won the Art Teacher of the Year for the State of Florida in 2015.

He has served as President of the Pinellas Art Education Association from 2006-2010.

Mr. Shepherd's philosophy is to nurture student's confidence creatively in Art by encouragement and to develop observation skills and technical skills to reach clear objectives in the creation of Art.
